WHAT ARE THE TREEMUSKETEERS GOING TO DO?
In the TreeMusketeers team, we are all very concerned about deforestation. Indeed, our vision is that we HAVE to stop deforestation, but how could we do that ? Our mission is to replant trees, as simple as that.
WHY DEFORESTATION?
As all of us know, the planet is facing climate change : that’s going to provoke many terrible events like the thaw of the glaciers and the consequent rise of the tide, extreme weather events (floods, heat waves, droughts, …), the animal extinction, … that will have big consequences on the world. Then we consider what would happen in Europe, because that would effect us directly:
- Southern and central Europe are seeing more frequent heat waves, forest fires and droughts.
- The Mediterranean area is becoming drier, making it even more vulnerable to drought and wildfires.
- Nothern Europe is getting significantly wetter, and winter floods could become common.
- Urban areas, where 4 out of 5 Europeans now live, are exposed to heat waves, flooding or rising sea levels, but are often ill-equipped for adapting to climate change.
Not all people believe it, but climate change has a real impact on humans’ health too. There has been an increase in the number of heat-related deaths in some regions and a decrease in cold-related deaths in others.
We chose the topic about saving the Amazon because it is the lung of the planet and it’s terrible to know how much of it is being destroyed. We know, that it’ll be impossible to convince the president of Brazil to stop the deforestation or to start planting trees to reforest the Amazon; so we’re thinking about how to solve this problem. If this big problem is not solved in time, the Earth will be destroyed and we don’t want to move to Mars to live.
LET’S MAKE CO-BRANDING :
Since our vision is that deforestation has to stop and our mission is to replant trees to give the Earth another breath, we realised that we needed to collaborate with a company that was constantly fighting for our Earth and that fit perfectly with our intentions and what we wanted to say.
That’s why we have chosen Ecosia. Our intention is to reverse the actual situation so we think that working with Ecosia could increase exponentially the process of planting trees.
Every 45 searches, Ecosia plants one tree so we want to make people aware of that and increase the number of searches.
The way Ecosia plants a tree is very easy, it only costs less that 1 second to plant a tree and 20 cents for each tree. Since 2009, Ecosia has planted more than 60 million trees, so we think that we can help to reach a higher figure.
We also want to collaborate with the KdG University College because making one or more weeks of only Ecosia searches on the web will help to reach a lot of young students who are not familiarised with this search engine and also it will generate an increase of planted trees because of the students searches.
To conclude, we think that this action will make the students spread what they are doing with their friends and family in order to get more people using the search engine Ecosia.
